1401 is a quarterly-published comic book that chronicles the lives of five friends during the 2022 (1401) women-led uprising in Iran.

Five individuals from different socioeconomic corners of Iran meet during a protest and come together to fight against the tyrannical Islamic Republic. Outgunned and outnumbered, they resort to well-planned acts of civil disobedience to unveil the underlying rot within the Iranian regime: putting on display its incompetence and corruption. However, all of that changes when one of them (Mehdi) helps out a young girl (Negin) who’s running away from the Basij, the Islamic Republic’s armed militia.

This is the first issue in the series and begins as Mehdi meets Negin, a young protestor that’s escaping from the Basij, the Islamic Republic’s armed militia.
